Gladiatrix III - Week 40 Update

Sierra needs to infiltrate the drow city of Nar'Kasteel, but that's no easy task being a human. She has formed an uncertain alliance with Xanderfein, weapon master of House Devir. They have a common goal and have agreed to work together. Karlaxel is a rogue wizard that belongs to no particular house and owes Xanderfein a favor. He has asked the rogue wizard to give Sierra the appearance of a drow so that she can enter the city. Karlaxel prepares an ointment and applies it to her body, thus darkening her skin to a lustrous ebony tone. He carefully uses shading techniques to give her a more slender appearance. There isn't much he can do about her height but on rare occasion there have been female drow that are taller than usual. Karlaxel dyes her hair and molds prosthetic ear tips to finish the transformation. Let's hope Sierra can maintain her disguise or she could face the wrath of the drow matron of the house!

  1. I hope the game plays out the application of this magic goo in an extremely graphic (and sexy)way.

    1. I hope we get to "play the part" of a Drow Female. ;) Kneel, Male!

  4. Longer stay in Everdark? More male drows mean more sex, right? lol.

Will there be three/foursome or BDSM in Part III?

    1. Hi. There will be several times where threesomes are an option and a couple of nc encounters if the player makes choices that lead to that. One scene so far could be described as BDSM but I don't want to give too much away.

  5. Heh, drawing a lot of ideas from Salvatore's works, aren't you? Reading the names of these two Drow was amusing though.

I have to wonder, why not simply Polymorph her instead? It has its ups and downs, but it seems like both would fall apart under scrutiny, and polymorph might keep scrutiny away better. As it stands, she is going to look like an extrememly brutish and over sized Drow. It happens (Briza Do'Urden, Uthegentel Del'Armgo) but it is hardly the type of thing to help in an infiltration.

    1. Yes, I love Salvatore's books. Especially the dark elf trilogy. I've borrowed a couple of names or made some variations on a few. I also like the politics of drow society and will be trying to capture that atmosphere in the module.

I never considered Sierra or the PC to be all that tall by human standards. Maybe around 5'6. That's still two inches taller than me :) I've always described others in the series as being surprised that her strength and ability belie her size. So 5'6 is tall for a drow but probably not freakish. I have some funny dialog I want to use based on her size compared to the drow. Now if someone plays their character imagining that they are amazonian in size then that could be a bit off. They might have to imagine that the wizard actually uses some kind of polymorph in that case, but that would be a long time for a spell to be in effect.

    2. Salvatore's Drow society is very impressive, I agree. One of the best things to come out of the Forgotten Realms books. Ludicrously self destructive and limiting though.

Ah, I get you. I always assumed that Sierra was rather large for a woman, and well muscled etc... Not six feet perhaps, but up there. Now I too am surprised over her capabilities. And good point about the spell's duration. I was operating under the assumption of permanency without a counter spell. It works that way in the War of the Spider Queen books, which I am currently reading.

    3. A lot of dark elves are very proficient in magic - a polymorph spell cannot last very long and an illusion spell would be detected by sentries with true sight at the gates. The plan of prostetic ears may be so weird it might work. They will be confident in their magic and dismiss Sierra as an elf with some human blood.

    4. How about shifter class and humanoid shape then? :D

  6. Wanted to thank you for a wonderful series. Just finished preview module and dying for more. It has such a good spirit ...Not to say about the visuals - they are nothing but stunning. And of course those fun distraction - like the game in Naked Lady or the talk with the narcotics guy in previous module. I also love the arena fights - because this one really forces you to test your character. I love toying with combinations and now play F/B/R and it is interesting to devise strategy to defeat various opponents one on one and prove that you don't have to be fully fledged fighter to kick ass.

I guess the only thing I can complain about is there isn't enough of it. Like: There is this wonderfully looking barbarian city with those gorgeous barbarian women - I would love just to roam a city a bit, to see some strange shops, to talk with some random barbarians in a bar(especially the inexperienced one, I am sure Tessa and PC can demonstrate her some moves)... There are many beautiful areas and so much potential to have some small "distractions" here and there.. But I guess somebody have to make all these so...one "just can have it all". Thank you for wonderful work and sorry for long post - I will be waiting with impatience for next one.

    1. Thanks! I'm glad you are enjoying the module so far. I see what you're saying about wanting more with the female barbarian city. That was actually supposed to be just a side quest but it blossomed into something more. I could continue to flesh out these various areas indefinitely but then it would become a matter of time. I don't know how many people would want to wait a couple of years for the final release and I don't think I have the endurance to build for that long :) I can tell you that there is much more to come beyond what you've seen. I hope it's worth the wait.

    2. You can always do post-release upgrades to the modules - we won't complain about it! That way you could add without pressure those side quests you have thought about, but skipped because of lack of time.

    3. I might consider doing something like that. A lot of it depends on how many people are still playing the series and still following it or even playing NWN. I do enjoy interacting with the community and it would give me a reason to keep the blog going. Maybe a 'wishlist' blog where people can submit what they'd like to see in each module starting with the first. If I do decide to revamp all the modules it will be at a much more leisurely pace.

Another thought, if I continue designing, would be to build a brand new series releasing smaller chapters at a time. Again, this would be at a much leisurely pace. Maybe I'll post a poll asking people which they prefer - a revamp of this series or a brand new series with smaller installments. No guarantees on either though but a possibility.

    4. I am SURE it's worth the wait! I would have been very happy if I had such imagination and capacity for story telling or design as you have.

    5. I am the 9:37 anonymous. Anyway, I recommend you do whichever you prefer, as that way you are most motivated to do it. Then again nothing prevents you to start working on new project and then do a bit of upgrading of Gladiatrix series whenever you feel like it.

You will have players, that is for sure. I see that there has been couple of thousand downloads on your modules, and for example Dance with Spies has a few hundred downloads to it. That should be sign enough that there will be players. :)

  7. I truly hope you continue the gladiatrix series or create a brand new series. I would pay for your releases. They are so fun and give me something to do on my free time.

  8. Great series, either a new series or a revamp with a wishlist sounds nice, if you believe you can't do either after finishing this up or don't have the time anymore we would understand. Got to say thanks for making this great series. Here's hoping this finds you in good health.
