Beta Test Signup

Thanks to Can Ozcelik for putting this image together!

Sierra in her red dragon armor and katana. Nice photoshop edit from a fan!

A long overdue reunion.

I'm now taking requests for beta testers. If you are interested you can send an email to fallyn_rayne(at)hotmail.com and let me know that you'd like to beta test. Replace (at) with @

I'll reply to your email when the beta is ready to download. It will be several days since I still have to finish my own testing but hopefully not more than a week. I'll make an announcement here when it has been posted, so you don't have to worry if you somehow missed the email. I had a blast interacting with the beta testers on G2 and everyone was so helpful. I'm really looking forward to it!

  2. It's shame to admit, but i never participated in beta testings before. Besides bug reports, what else will be required from me?

    2. Well, it's pretty simple. I'll send you a link to download the module when it's ready. I'll create a separate blog for the beta test. Just play through the game and make note of anything that seems buggy or strange. The blog will have a tab for each section of the module, so you can post your findings for that specific area if you run into problems. There will also be a spelling/grammar error tab and one for general feedback and comments. I'm not too demanding. If you want to just run through it and post if something jumps out at you that's great. Or if you want to do a really thorough search then that works, too. I'll probably have at least 50 testers, so if there are problems to be found I'm sure they'll be found.

That's where I'm keeping track of all the signups.

  4. I'd love to test both for my own sake and of course to help make the mod even better. Sadly I don't do much more than work and sleep these days so I'll try and abstain from this beta.
At least I can be real happy about how close to finished part 3 is!

    1. Don't feel bad if you can't beta test. I've already got close to 30 testers already in this short time, so I feel confident that I'll get good feedback.

Many of you may prefer to wait for the final polished release and that is perfectly fine. But I welcome any who want to join my growing legion of beta warriors :)

  5. YAY! Sending e-mail now. ;)

    Congrats on completing Rayne.

  6. I'm actually rather excited to see how things turn out.

This is one of my favorite NWN mod series, right behind ADWR.

  7. Can't wait to finish playing the game and see where my Siera ends up! thank you very much for creating this!

  8. Muric writes, "f I were a gambling man, I'd guess you're a huge hack 'n slash fan, and despise needing to RP at all"

Yes, um... Fallyn is the heroine in this series and I'm a Braxton... I go for all out raw force.

  9. I'm looking forward to it.
Will be best import our charácter from previous modules or play with a new one?

    1. Well, you may want to do the beta with a copy of your character and then save another copy of your character for when you do the final version.

    2. I'd love to beta test, but as a Mac user without the toolset, I would know NOTHING of what is called "scripting".

I am beginning to wonder if the problems in part 2 are Mac related.

      Delete
    3. Hi, you don't need to know scripting to beta test. You just play the module and report problems you have on the beta blog. If you decide to beta test and run into problems it would be good to mention that you have a mac when you report the error.

    4. Steve here: you know my e-mail. Feel free to send it.

  11. Thanks for all the signups everyone. I just wanted to give you an update where I'm at. I just have a couple of tweaks left and I really want to make a complete run through before I post it for the beta testing. So I'm probably looking at a couple more days. When it's ready I'll be responding to all your emails with the link.

  12. Will the Beta include options at start up to determine who Sierra's lover is? It would make thorough testing much easier for me.

    ReplyDelete

    1. Well, if she has one of the four rings she got from the first module there will be some extra dialog options with those characters. She will have a final romance but it doesn't necessarily have to be with the person she got the ring from. So the final romance isn't determined at the start of the module but from choices you make during this module.

  13. UPDATE: I attempted a full run through and hit some snags. Mainly her companions aren't leveling up when they should. I also had a couple of area transitions that didn't work, so I have to work on those trouble spots before posting.

Thanks everyone for being patient while I work out the kinks. At least now we're only talking about waiting extra days instead of weeks or months.

  14. I started replaying the first 2 gladiatrix and I have a question that I know has probably been answered before, can Sierra get pregnant if you do not use a sterilization potion?

    1. Not in the first two modules. I don't want to give anything away for the third :)

    2. Certainly something to test in beta, then ;).

  15. I kinda have this feeling that the beta is coming out today :)

    Sorry for the spoiler fallynrayne!

    1. I can't get it out by today because I haven't finished the final run through after fixing the kinks. This thing is long! I don't want to risk posting it and have everyone hit a show-stopping bug seven hours into playing. I'm really aiming for tomorrow though. Cross your fingers :)

    2. *doublecrosses all fingers in most treacherous manner* Not what you meant? Anyway, I hope everything goes smoothly.

    3. "I don't want to risk posting it and have everyone hit a show-stopping bug seven hours into playing."

Isn't that what what beta testing is about?

      Delete
    4. Generally mod makers like to get as many bugs out of their mods as they can before releasing it to the public. Beta tests are there so that willing participants can fix bugs that the author/creator -didn't- see, not so that they can stumble across a ground breaking bug that will mean they have to download it all over again, etc. FallynRayne is doing a great job bug hunting, which means the beta testers will have an easier time of it.
Personally, I'm willing to wait, because I know it will be worth it.

  16. Calling in sick for work tomorrow then!

    1. It might be Saturday night before it's ready, so call in on Sunday instead :) unless you work night shift.

And that is assuming that I can get through this latest run of the module without encountering any other problem spots. So I'm still running on hope, but I'm confident that we're really close.

  17. How long beta testing will continue?

    ReplyDelete
  18. I didn't get it finished tonight like I hoped :( I think it takes at least 15 hours to run through this module. I'm towards the end of it so hopefully tomorrow.

    1. Take your time! Just get it amazing. A little extra waiting is very worth it. :) Thanks for your hard work!

    2. Seconding the above anon! You've poured such a lot of work into this, don't feel pressured to release the beta any faster than you feel comfortable with.

  19. FallynRayne,

    Let's make a deal,

if you release the beta tonight, to show my gratitude, I'll come over and give you a good massage!

  21. Beta test module has finally been posted. Breathing a sigh of relief here. I'm thrilled that I have 75 testers signed up! If you signed up you have been emailed a link to the beta test blog and instructions to download the module. If somehow I missed responding to your email send me a request again or let me know here that you didn't get it. Also, check your junk mail just in case.

    1. Testing is going great. The bugs that have been found are minor. I'm fixing those up and adding a few extra encounters to the module. I'll be posting it on the vault in another week or two.

    2. Looking forward to it! (Hoping for one week rather than two, but better that it's completely beta:ed and lovely rather than rushed out)

  27. I love your work, I tried to follow your path building mob but i?m not half of your quality. I notes allready for both quality of scripts and senario: Incredible! good job! waitin' to see the final version.
    Good job!
I love nwn only for people like you!

  28. I actually just discovered those games and played through Part I and II in two days straight. It is quite amazing and I truly looking forward to part 3. Probably would be a bad beta tester so I just wait and hope it comes out soon, even though I can hardly wait.

Great work, that was the most fun I had with a game in quite some time.

  29. It's been about a week, so I was just curious if we can expect to see the mod released yet or if it'll be another week. No pressure >_> lol. Can't wait for this awesome mod, is all.

    1. Probably closer to another week. I finished fixing the bugs that were reported so far. I just need to build a sidequest and a couple of intimate encounters.

      Delete
    2. More intimate encounters = good.

Ok, maybe squashing a bug here or there is a good thing as well. ;)

Glad to hear it's close to being released. Looking forward to it! Thanks again for all your hard work.

  30. Hi, I just wanted to give everyone an update. I'm still looking at a few more days before posting the final version on the vault. I'm still finishing up the new encounters I've added, but I have most of the bug fixes done. These things always take a little longer than I predict. Thanks for hanging in there with me. I will make an announcement here on the blog when I've posted the module on the vault.

    1. Play it and find out?

    2. Hi. I don't want to give anything away to players who haven't played the module yet. I'm planning on posting the completed module on the vault by the end of the weekend. When I do that I will post on the beta blog what extra encounters are included that weren't in the beta. There are three significantly detailed sexual encounter options and an extensive side quest that weren't in the beta.

      Delete
  32. Eeee, I can't wait!
Quick question though, do we need to keep the ring from the romance options in Part 1 in order to continue the romances into Part 3 - or are they broken if we get rid of it? I'm doing a new playthrough so the events of the previous modules were fresh in my mind when I played Part 3 and I want to do a split playthrough where I stay loyal, and one where I don't.

If it's spoilers and you can't say that's fine. :)

    ReplyDelete
    Replies
    1. If I remember correctly, FallynRayne had stated in an earlier comment the romance rings unlock new dialogues options but are not required to continue an existing romance nor lock the player to pursue a romance with other character.

      Delete
    2. Alright thanks for answering. :) It's really appreciated!
I'll keep the ring then. :D

      Delete
    3. That's correct. The ring doesn't bind you to a particular romance. You just get extra dialog or encounter options with whomever you have the ring. For instance, you don't get a ring from Braxton but he could end up being your final romance. There is another factor in G3 that decides who your final romance is.

  33. I'm a new-comer to the series, and I just wanted to let you know that I really enjoy it! I'm glad that I've only started to get into it, as the wait for chapter three might have killed me. Is this going to be the final chapter, or do you have more planned?

    ReplyDelete
    Replies
    1. Thanks! This is the final chapter of the trilogy.

      Delete
  34. UPDATE: I really REALLY wanted to get G3 submitted to the vault this weekend, but I still have just a couple of things to finish up. I promise that it is VERY close to completion. Hopefully, I'll have it complete tomorrow.

    1. That's ok, take all the time you need.

    2. Damn, I still haven't finished the beta (though I don't think there's much more left). Well, if I find any other bugs, I guess they can be fixed in a future patch.

  35. Glad to hear the module is nearly done. The news has got me thinking of NWN and I've been playing a few modules again while I wait for the release. Looking forward to what will no doubt be the best of the trilogy. And I bet you're looking forward to a rest! :p

    ReplyDelete
  36. Hey there. First? Love the work you've done on the modules. Thank you very much for them. That said could you, perhaps, put the walkthrough files on nexus? I can't seem to connect to NWvault and can't get any of my friends to do so either. Their luck seems just as bad.
