Gladiatrix III - Week 27 Update

The battle is lost. When Sierra and her party come to, they find themselves stripped and caged. There is someone in a worse predicament though, as the Taurean savages are toying with another captive. The shroud operatives have little resources to work with to get out of this predicament and may be powerless to help the chained victim.

You know, I've had some problems in modern games with the cutscene versions of my characters fucking up or being defeated in such a way that is just flat out impossible when considering their in game abilities. Mass Effect 3 was pretty bad for this. That said, I think you're well served by the fact this takes place in something like NWN, rather than as a fully motion captured epic fail out of left field.

    What I'm trying to say I guess, is that I have no problems with this, and am interested to see how it unfolds. The only observation I really have is that some imprisonment sequences unfold like really long cutscenes, with little to no ability to make any decisions or do anything. While that might seemingly make sense, in a game I have found this to be boring. Still, perhaps compelling writing and stuff could overcome that. I'd love a way to influence your situation though.

  2. Many people complain about forced defeat/item strip, but for me it can be a nice change of pace. When you can't use your usual uber equipment and you get knocked out of your comfort zone, it can make an interesting gameplay. ADwR overdid this, yet it was always fun.

    P.S. Awfully nice of these minotaurs to care about our heroes modesty and let them keep the underwear ;)

  3. I'm against auto defeats, unless there are sexy shenanigans involved.

    With that said, I also believe the heroes' modesty should not be spared.

  4. Hi! I'll try not to give too much away, but if it's any consolation, I'm giving the player a few different paths that could lead to this so that it doesn't necessarily have to be an auto-defeat. This is a bit of a rescue mission. The player might choose a diplomatic path where they feign being agreeable to the minotaur. Or they might try a covert path to get to their destination or an all out assault.

    As for the inventory stripping, I know that can be annoying from a management point, but it's just the nature of this kind of module. I never wanted this series to be one where the character always has the option to whip out whatever arsenal they have stored in their endless bag of holding at any given time. That's just boring. Sometimes it's more exciting and intense to have to work with limited resources on occasion. It's also a bit naughty and risqué to be stranded in your unmentionables, which kind of fits this kind of module.

    I always encourage the player not to carry a truck load of items. If it isn't something that you plan on using regularly then sell it. I even have various merchants in the module urge players to lighten their load. Use the money you get back to buy potions, which will come in handy.

  5. I like auto-defeats that aren't...or rather are suitably epic.

    The heroic last stand can be just as fun as winning, and there's been a couple mods that do this. The waves simply don't end, have a nice day. :P

    And alternate solutions are always a good thing. So I'm intrigued to see how it plays out.

    Yes, auto-defeats are welcome if some sort of sexual shenanigans ensue (like am taken advantage of while am in a defeated position). And agree that modesty doesn't need to take place while imprisoned either.

    End of worker-stealth mode. Have to return to real world now.. *poof*

  7. I'm happy with auto-defeats, as long as it makes sense - no being beaten by a one legged, blind, sick zombie called Hurbet for example. But poisoning, blind-sided blow, powerful foe, outnumbered, etc are all fine with me. BTW I've always hated just having the 'your dead' message and reloading a saved game (my dream adult module would have death scenes that play out when this kind of thing happened - which may just be blackouts with text description/interaction).

    Don't mind item strips either, it's good having to rely on just your skills/feats/wits instead of items. Though that works better with classes like rogues or bards, where they have a range of skills that can be used. But having to wander around with just a table leg and panties, gives a naked feeling that adds a thrill that wouldn't be there if you had full weapons and armour.

  8. It could all be pretty fun. I just hate having to reorganize my inventory once it's all back. I'm just as OCD about my inventory being neat as I am IRL house cleaning. Potions on first page, widgets on last. Weapons and armor and other switch out items on left of first... loot starts on page 2. The list goes on and on.... *sigh* I'm crazy.

    1. I am similar person. Despite that I do like those events, even in ADWR, where I always gather huge amount of items, including some twenty or so dresses. Gotta love Bags of Holding, which are must have for any fashion conscious adventurer (or adventuring princess, as is case of ADWR).

    2. I'm not as OCD as I am thinking "If I don't pick this copper necklace up here, I will regret it later on when I need that copper necklace to give to the Iron Troll who won't let me cross that bridge without it.." That is, I just never know what item will be useful later on.

      So I am a bit of a packrat and pick up most everything I think might be of use in the future. Of course, that becomes a bit of an annoyance when item strips happen. :P

  9. Will the Heroes be naked for an extended period of time at any point in the game?

    If so, will sexy shenanigans involed during said period?

    1. Well, they'll be naked at times but only when it fits the story and probably not for extended lengths. Sometimes naked leads to sex. There will be a lot more "almost naked" scenarios.
