Gladiatrix III Has Been Released!

The day I have long awaited for has finally arrived! I have posted the completed version of Gladiatrix III to the vault. This is the final chapter of the Gladiatrix trilogy. Now we are simply at the mercy of the vault managers on how quickly they authorize the submission. So keep an eye out for it on NWN Vault. This is easily the biggest project I've ever tackled in my life, so I'm breathing a huge sigh of relief!

Beta testers, if you want to see what additions have been added since the beta release just check the beta blog. I'll be posting there about what extras I've added.

Thanks to all for sticking with me and being so patient. It really means a lot to me that so many of you stood by and watched this build slowly from the ground up. I hope you enjoy it!

New survey added:
I also added a new survey to the right just to get an idea of the male/female player demographic of those who play this series.

  1. Woooo!!! Congratulations and well done :D!! Can't wait to see how things play out. Oh and I hope they authorize it real soon haha, I should probably stop checking back every five minutes.... lol

  2. Will you be releasing this on the neverwinter nexus mod site as well? I'm fairly certain I've seen Gladiatrix 1 and 2 there, but wasn't sure if you were the one who uploaded?

  3. What a nice surprise. :) Thanks for all the hard work you've put into this great series of adventures. Now I just hope the Vault people see the gem and authorize quickly. :

  6. Congrats! I'm still not done with the beta, but I'm pretty advanced in it so I guess I'll finish it and leave the final version for later.

You probably knew about it already, but just in case, there's also the new Vault: http://neverwintervault.org/

  8. Hi, yes I posted it on the nexus. I was really hoping to get most of my downloads on the vault because I kind of use that as a measurement on how successful my module becomes. Either way, when you finish playing it PLEEEAAASE give me a vote on the vault. Votes and feedback are the only payment I get. Plus, when others see activity on a module they are more willing to play it. So you all are kind of like my advertisers :)

  10. "Now we are simply at the mercy of the vault managers on how quickly they authorize the submission."

Since the vault tends to be pretty slow, I know that some modders often send a PM to Rolo Kipp on the Bioware forums, which helps speeding things up.

This is his profile, if you want to PM him: http://social.bioware.com/2917482/

  16. Great mod! :) But... Seems to be crashing near the end of the "Wizard Globe." Is it just me?

    1. SPOILER WARNING:

At the end of the Wizard Globe there is a Phylactery (A demon hand holding a globe). Right-click and bash that. Mandrake will appear with a couple of Maugs and attack. Once he is dead the pyramid can be accessed as a portal out.

Let me know if something else is going wrong or if you can describe what is happening when you crash.

    2. Bug report about the mad wizard quest.
After killing Mandrake, the dialogue with the half-elf is cut. When he ask what happened "2nd text screen : What do you mean?" When you respond to him, the player exit the dialogue windows.

    3. Hmm, I checked the conversation and Tessa is supposed to jump in and say something at that point. She must either be too far away or maybe too busy in stealth mode to join in. A few people had a similar problem with her in G1 when she wouldn't join Landon's rescue conversation. I'll put a clear script and a jumptoPC script on her when I make my next update.

If you have a save game before that can you tell if Tessa is too far away or if she is being weird when you talk to Thanton, the half-elf? If that's something you can't check it's no big deal. It's not a critical part of the game but could prevent you from getting the reward.

      Delete
    4. I had the same thing. The conversation cut because Tessa was too far away - she'd gotten stuck on the grass/hill coming down to the half-elf. I reloaded and made sure she was right next to my PC and the dialogue worked fine.

    5. Crashed for me as well there, it was some sort of OpenGL error.
to fix it i just did lower the video settings and i had no problem anymore, after the globe I raised the settings again, no more problems.

this happened on my notebook with a Geforce GT650M.

    1. There is a door to the Naked Lady on the east side of the building. Right at the front of the building where the sign is. If you aren't seeing it then your version of NWN is definitely missing something. I had 80 beta testers that didn't have that problem.

I think you just need to run the critical rebuild. Try this link instead.

  18. Just beat it and I must say I enjoyed every minute. Though oddly enough I'm starting to notice that I must be Drow-sexual, as every time a Drow is offered as a potential love interest in a module I jump on them faster than you can blink. I especially liked the choices we were given at the end and the epilogue. (Won't spoil here in case people who haven't finished look at this post, but I liked the uncertainty.)

I'm going to miss this module series! D: Thank you so much for taking the time to make it!

  22. Currently replaying the first module, and I encountered an interesting glitch:
    http://i40.tinypic.com/ff8ldd.jpg
And not only did the fight look better after the armors vanished, it also played out faster and was much more fun and dynamic that way. If FR someday does an enhanced version of the first module, it would be cool to change arena armor from halfplate into some partial medium armor (something like right vambrace - right pauldron - greaves combo), and even with AC penalty instead of enchantment bonus. More fun and more historically accurate to boot.

  23. Pretty good conclusion, there was some really great part, even if it's not my favorite from the trilogy.

Thanks for your great work FallynRayne, you have done an amazing job.

  24. Good one, I have played them all and just finished this one last
night. I enjoyed most of it, but I have some complaints about some parts of it. I'm sorry if I sound whiny, especially since you made this wonderful series in your free time when you didn't have to.

    Spoiler Warning

1.The first is with the Dakari, with what history of theirs is revealed to the main character I thought that when I got their that it would be hard to form a allaince with them because of what they believe woman are only good for, and that I would have some encounters in the city that would have some or a large group trying to put me in my place. With the three quests I thought that you got them to easily for being outsiders and that when you meet the leader that he would have you do something like help them conquer and enslave the Valtrescans or kidnap the leaders daughter or their greatest warrior. And that trying to get both their aids at the same time would be a very difficult task.

2.When you go to make an alliance with the elves and learn on the way their that no human has been to their capital in a long time and that they see humans as the lesser species that you are going to have to sneak into the city or do some quest to earn entry, and than do some more to earn the right to see the king.

3.When you are disguise as a drow, I thought that you would do
more evil stuff to earn the matrons trust, and that you would have time between earning her trust to explore some of the city and be able to do side quests that are plain out immoral or do ones that would cast suspicion on you. Also when you are saving Tessa, that like in the second one where you could simple watch the kid get devour that you could do the same with her.

4.That their wasn't more sidequests in the different regions.

These are the major ones I had, got a few questions:
1.Are you going to start a new series?
2.Will you ever consider making a module for NWN 2 or Dragon Age Origin?
3.Whatever happened to Syndalar after you part ways?

If you ever revisit this series to add more content to the modules I hope you would consider adding some of these:
1.More of Braxton taking women when he wants and the option to watch, join in, or stop him.
2.More scenes with your character being taken by none humans, espcially with ones that are bigger than the human men.
3.More scenes with Emmalynn being taken without her consent and you can watch or save her.
4.Being able to encounter Katani and Lorik again either alive or undead.
5.Being able to lose your virginity to others including Alcan at the beginning of the first module.
    6.Have intimate encounters with Beta.
7.Being able to encounter and watch the princess of the elves being ravage than saving her or stopping it before it happens.
8.Being able to wrestle the Dakari warrior while at the Valtrescans, being taken by him infront of the audience if you lose or you and Tessa having him for the night if you win and the night could go with both of you being dominate by him if you lose control or him being dominated by Tessa and you.
9.More ways it can end here in the third Module, like Tessa and you becomes slaves to the taureans or Braxton and you losing yourself to the mindflayers.

    1. 10. Have Sierra meet Jake the Stableboy and have sex with him, thus closing the circle of her erotic escapades. Then Tessa joins in and gets him to munch her carpet while Sierra rides him. Then Braxton appears and slashes the boy's throat. After that he proceeds to have sex with blood soaked Sierra while Tessa gives him a rim job. Then Landon and Kelvyn arrive, overpower Braxton and double penetrate him while Tessa pisses in Sierra's mouth. They move on to double team Tessa when Emmalynn comes to the party and animates Jake as a zombie and has him go down on exhausted Braxton. Zombie Jake instead bites his cock of. Emmalynn joins Sierra who takes a dump in her mouth, then gives her a long, loving kiss. Syndalar arrives and casts enchantment spell on Kelvyn and Landon, then orders them to go down on each other. Tessa feels left out, so she uses a morningstar as a dildo. Cypher and Beta come an join the festivities. Cypher gets fisted by Sierra, while Beta uses a diremace as a double dildo with Tessa. Emmalynn casts a spell to regenerate Braxtons cock, then pulls the one Jake bit of from zombies throat and inserts it in Braxton's ass. Then she proceeds to ride him. Jake starts biting other parts of Braxton, but regeneration spell still works, so they grow back immediately. Then undead Katani appears with a squad of horny fire giants who start to gangrape anyone left standing. The Aristocrats!

    2. Thanks. I don't know if I will be building a new series or not. A lot of it depends on the kind of feedback and interest I get on this module. I have to admit that some of the feedback I've gotten throughout the whole series doesn't really inspire me to continue the kind of work that it takes to produce modules. A lot of the feedback comes across as, "It was good but could have been better." If I had a fan base similar to ADWR then it would probably be worth continuing, but I don't.

I do have a small, very dedicated group of fans who appreciate my modules for what they are and followed them very closely. They are the ones that really kept me going this long. I did the first module for myself. I did the next two mainly for those really interested in the series and I am forever grateful for their encouragement. I would have stopped after the first one if it weren't for them.

But for the average player, these are typical complaints I get that kind of discourage me from continuing:
      1. It's too linear
(I've been unable to shake that one. My approach starting this series was to tell a distinct story that the player has a chance to live out. It was never meant to be a 'Choose-your-own-adventure', but people get disappointed when it isn't.)

      2. "It's not a clone of ADWR"
(This one annoys the most. Some people dismiss my series right off the bat when they see that it isn't. It was never meant to be. They make it seem like it's impossible to like both series for different reasons)

      3. It's too hack and slash.
(I've gotten this a few times and it really baffles me.)

Another factor not in favor of me continuing is NWN being an aging game. Years ago a popular module could get 60,000 downloads. Now a popular module may get a few thousand at best and that is dwindling as time goes on.

I don't have any plans to overhaul this series. I will mainly be addressing buggy issues. Building modules for NWN2 or Dragon Age is unlikely because those games are starting to age as well. If a new game comes out that is very user-friendly to build modules on then I'd probably be very interested in trying.

As for NWN, I'll never say never. Maybe I'll get the bug again and want to build some more. It would probably be shorter chapters instead of big releases like this. If I do decide to build another series I'll announce it on my module pages, here and the NWN forums. But for now I'm taking a much needed break.

    3. Just a quick reply since you reached the final line (congratulations by the way) : I don't think you should get discouraged by people and their opinions as people are always complaining.

I liked your modules for the story, characters, areas and encounters that you created. I have nothing against the game being linear - it just depends how the story is being told.

What I didn't like (and please don't take this the wrong way) was fake choices like in part 1 when you fight in arena and you have an option to cross some noble woman who later on threatens you - I was hoping for some ambush or abuse from her but all ended with a few lines of dialogue.

The same with changing your alignment (when you are doing bad deeds for Felonious Hull in part 2) - you become evil and are rewarded for being/becoming an evil person but later on you can just donate some gold to the temple or buy a totem in part 3 to change your alignment back. I'd rather not be offered a choice that doesn't matter at all or is just fluff than hope for something more going behind the scenes and once there is nothing, be disappointed.

What I really liked in part 3 is the Gladiatrix starts to feel tired and doubts whether the whole thing is worth fighting for. The possible ending scene in a forest was really well done and thought out and a pleasant surprise for me - job well done! And that example belongs to the choices I would welcome very much in a computer game - no matter how significant or not, let there be something that impacts the world and/or the player.

If the game is linear, you need to give your character (and thus the player) a motivation to go on - whether it is a promise of some loot, self-advancement, getting revenge on someone, protecting yourself and people your character cares about etc. In part 1/part 2 I didn't feel so motivated working for Cypher - the only motivation I had was my character progressing, a chance of getting a better loot and see new areas/encounters you are so good at creating. Therefore a part 3 where there are dialogues questioning your motivation are a very welcomed change.

    4. It's difficult to avoid comparisons to ADWR due to the adult theme of both modules but people shouldn't do that and that's not fair. You had a completely different story to tell and yours stands on its own. Besides, let's not forget the many changes the ADWR went through over the years so no comparison is justified.

I guess people forget that ADWR without adult content is still a very fine rogue-based game but judge yours and others (no matter how little there are) adult modules through an adult perspective only so no whoring yourself, no getting raped, no being forced to do some sex acts etc. means your module is dismissed which is not fair as well.

I enjoyed your module for what it was and really liked the tongue-in-cheek humor that showed through dialogues and areas/characters you created. You have a talent and - what's more important - a dedication to see things through the end no matter the obstacles (yours hard drive crash comes to mind) so don't feel discouraged by people who "know better". You created one of the longest series of modules for NWN and high scores on etc. nwvault reflect that.

On a side note, another module which is linear but tells a good story is Blackguard - but it's one of the most restricted mods when it comes to character development. But the motivation of the main character is established at the very beginning and it makes sense within the context of the story.

On one hand NWN mod scene still is kind of active although past its prime. Recent additions like Baldur's Gate 1 mod for NWN2 make many people to not forget about the scene. Your skill with a toolest is very high so it would be a shame is such experience wasn't used in future for something. On the other hand if you are skilled it might be easier to get into another modding tool.

I would recommend an upcoming RPG game from Larian studios ("Divinity" series). The devs are going to include a modding tool with the release of the game that they are using themselves to create the game. It will be fresh and it seems the engine is really nice.

    5. Fantastic, FR! Comments and spoilerish stuff most likely will pop under below:

      ...

First of all, I really REALLY hope you do continue to mod. If not for NWN, for something else. I had a blast with this module. Right amount of sexy bits (ok, this warped individual could always use more..hehe) along with a good story to play through. And I encountered no bugs to speak of. Definitely a testament to the hard work and diligence you put into this effort.

Just some general thoughts below on just my personal preferences only.

Yes, it's a bit linear. But you said it would pretty much be that way several times before. So I expected it. And as linear-type modules go, this still has a lot of replayability, IMHO. I'll go back and hit more things I am sure I missed -- I just wanted to play it quickly through once and give my impressions of it first.

I also thought perhaps the ending was a bit rushed. A bit more epilogue and tying up conversations with other NPC's was something I thought I'd get. But again, just my on little personal preference here.

Otherwise, I really don't have much to complain/whine about. If there was voting on here, it'd definitely get a "10" from me.

Other stuff. Yes comparisons with ADWR will always be made. I know it's not something you wanted. And I realize you definitely DID NOT make a clone of it. It's just that ADWR has set such a high bar for adult-themed modules, a lot of similarly themed modules would be compared with it...rightly or wrongly. For me, the Gladiatrix series stands just fine on it's own.

As for the aging game, lack of downloads, fan base, etc. Yes, NWN is an old game. But I still think it's got plenty of life left. And I imagine it's still one of the easiest to mod for. Content is also still being added all the time. Is it as active as it was in it's early days? No. But even so, the large number of downloads for say, ADWR, is the amount over a span of many *years*. Even that one didn't get thousands of downloads overnight.

And I know you said you won't do a major revamp on these mod's. But if you do change your mind in the future, I'd especially like my anonymous friend's suggestions (specifically numbers 1,2,3,5,6,7). Hey, what can I say..I said I was warped. :)

I really hope you do continue modding. It doesn't have to be NWN. But it would be great if you would return to that platform at a later date.

You definitely deserve a long, well earned break regardless. I really appreciate all the personal time it took to create such a wonderful series of modules. I had such a fun time playing them. And to me, this latest effort was the best yet.

      Thanks again!

    6. I'd love to see you continue modding, either in NWN or elsewhere. Another suggestion for a modern game with good modding support would be Shadowrun Returns:

“Beyond its successful community funding, Harebrained Schemes is encouraging its community to share by releasing the game’s game editor, a robust set of tools for anyone to use to create their own stories in Shadowrun’s rich and vibrant shared universe. While other games offer editing tools, Harebrained Schemes is going one step further by releasing the entire Shadowrun Returns campaign in the editor format.”

    1. That's strange. So Braxton is stealthed and you can't talk to him?

Can you try running these commands in the console and see if this fixes it? To enter a console command while in the game you have to hit the ` key which is to the left of the 1 key. So do the following entries one at a time and hit enter after each. Notice where I use the ` key:

      `
      DebugMode 1
      `
      dm_runscript braxtonforcerest
      `
      DebugMode 0

If this doesn't work can you email me your save game file? My email is fallyn_rayne(at)hotmail.com just replace (at) with @
I'll see if I can fix your save game and send it back to you. Just zip your save game folder located in NWN\Saves. If you send me the save game please let me know here because I don't check that email very often.

  30. Re "It's too linear": sure, I would have probably enjoyed the game more if it had more choice and consequence, but this was great as it was, and the whole series was really enjoyable. I can completely appreciate that you have a story to tell and wouldn't want you to write what others want rather than what you want.

It was particularly impressive to see how everything improved for the most part from game to game - I'd be really excited to see what you do next, no matter how short-form it may be.

I enjoyed the fighter-focused nature, and didn't think it was too much hack-and-slash at all. Between this and ADWR, all we're missing is a great mage-oriented series.

    ReplyDelete
  31. Wow, it's such a great module, much better than the other ones in my opinion! i don't know why people compare this to ADWR, sure ADWR was nice and all, but this has such a better story and likeable characters, wow i'm very impressed! i really wish to see more modules like this one, please, don't let other comments bring you down, you have such an amazing talent! to see more modules like this stop being created because of some stupid people... anyway, please don't stop doing what you're doing, this is fabulous, sorry for the bad english.

  32. I'm always amazed by the sheer amount of time (days, weeks, years...), effort and dedication people put into creating these modules - for no financial gain for themselves, and purely for the enjoyment of others. Writing any narrative is a difficult task, writing one with so many interactions and permutations, multiply so.

This has been an immensley entertaining series and I thoroughly enjoyed the narrative throughout, looking forward to the next installment as it come out. If you decide not to do anymore, I can understand that, as it must take so much out of your own personal life. There have been other great modders (Adam Miller for example with his shadowlords, demoncatcher, demon and dark waters series; maerduin with harp & chrysanthenum) who decide to call it a day and move on with other activities.

Enjoy your much deserved break, but tegardless of what you do next in life - and I hope it works well for you, you have nothing but my thanks!

  33. Out of interest, is there no way to start from the end of the preview? I save my character there, yet get sent back to the start of the module with all the preview gear.

I'll probably start from scratch, but if possible I'd like to start where I was

    ReplyDelete
    Replies
    1. No, I'm sorry. I don't have any options in the module to start where the preview left off. You could probably use the same character you did the preview with and not be too far off on experience points. You'll probably end up with some duplicate items though.

      Delete
  34. Thanks for the encouraging words! Sometimes I get feedback on the module sites that makes me wonder if doing this was even worth it, so it's good to know that there are people that enjoy it for what it is.

    ReplyDelete
  35. The conclusion to this series was quite good, far and away the best of the three.

The true (pleasant) surprise was that the ending bit actually got me thinking.

The only thing that has ever really bothered me about this series is that it seems like some of the maps are a bit too big, this was more of a curiosity than an annoyance and it certainly didn't detract from the experience.

So a tip of the hat to you FallynRayne it was exquisite.

    ReplyDelete
  36. I really hope you continue to make new modules, gaming these days is going the opposite direction, releasing fewer and fewer modding tools. They want to be able to nickel and dime you for every little thing and suppress user created content.

It also appears we will not see another official NWN game for quite some time, if ever, what with them making the switch to a more action oriented MMO style of game, and lets be honest, the slower paced CRPGs with their rulesets and all of that aren't really super popular anymore. We're a very niche market, and thus, we rely on each other in the community for new content to keep the game, and the community alive.

And don't let a few discouraging comments get you down, you can't please everyone, and for every 1 person who had something to complain about there are 10 people who could recite a list of things they absolutely LOVED about the module.

    ReplyDelete
  37. Fallyn, don't let the bad comments stop you from doing something that you enjoy. Don't second guess yourself because others said somethings that hurt your feelings. Some of them maybe are trying to be constructive, and some of them maybe really not that nice.

If you want you modules to get better, of course you'll need feedbacks. Some are good, some are not. Take those that you think really could improve your modules for the better, and the ones that only trying to bring you down, the hell with them.

Players will always compare your modules to A Dance With Rogues, it's true. Like it or not, like others have said, it's because ADWR has set the bar really high for adult-themed module. But, even ADWR was being updated from time to time (at least until 2010) to be like it is now.

I don't know if you have decided to call it a day, or you want to improve the Gladiatrix Series from time to time like Valine did, we never know. But if you decide to do so, who knows that the Gladiatrix Series could be at the same level as ADWR someday, or even better.

Players keep on complaining about stories being too linear from time to time. Well, not just you. Even ADWR Part II got those kind of comments all the time, but still it didn't stop players to play it, right? I, in fact, like ADWR Part II more than I (even though it's linear) because, you know, it's not about being too linear or else; it's about you make players fall in love with your story and your characters.

I, for one, can say that you have strong characters in your Gladiatrix series. When others said 'it was good but it could have been better,' use them as motivations. If you need a break from modding, take it, you deserve it for all your dedications to all the Gladiatrix fans all this time.

    ReplyDelete
  38. I really really love this game. You have done an excellent job with this story. I'm not at the end yet, thats why I'm not starting to say much but it's been a fun ride. I can't really argue against so much entertainment for free. I mean...how many hours did I play this trilogy? 30 Hours maybe? Thats longer than games I pay 40-50 Euros for. And for the most parts it is even better. Thank you for your hard work and dedication. I would have given up so many times and disappointed the fans, but you did it. You can be proud.

But I have one Problem/Bug/whatever and it's kinda a SPOILER so:

Everytime I try to enter the Scrouge rendezvous point the game crashes. I downloaded everything again, I checked the patch...everything. Maybe I missed something, but it always crashes. I tried both ways, I tried to have different team members, but it does not work. Dont have any ideas left.

    1. Hi Cloudchaser. Whatever is happening is unique to your system. People who have experienced crashes have fixed the problem by either installing the critical rebuild or CEP 2.4. This has worked almost 100% of the time for those who have reported back to me. I would try the critical rebuild first and then try downloading CEP 2.4 if that doesn't work.

      Link to Critical Rebuild:
      http://nwvault.ign.com/View.php?view=Other.Detail&id=1505

      Link to CEP 2.4
      http://nwvault.ign.com/View.php?view=Hakpaks.Detail&id=7849

If that doesn't fix the problem you can try turning down the graphics to the lowest setting in the main menu. Turn off grass, water and skybox options.

If it still isn't working move override files out of the override directory so that it is empty. You can also try having only the gladiatrix hak files and CEP hak files in your hak directory and move everything else to a temporary folder. In fact, if you end up redownloading CEP 2.4 it might be a good idea to start with a clean hak folder so you just get the new CEP files and then put the gladiatrix hak files in there. That will protect against there being a corrupt file.

Hope this helps. Let me know if it still doesn't work.

    2. Thank you it works now. Did all the Critical Rebuild, CEP...everything but did not empty the Override Folder...damn :D Well it was late at night...............

      Part 1:
      1.12b, 1.13, 1.14, 1.15, 1.20, 1.21, 1.22, 1.30, 1.40, 1.50

      ACAG versions:
      ACAG102, ACAG103, ACAG104, ACAG106
      Non-Valine modifications:
      ADWR 1 extended by Nonsense667
Several own versions which basically increase experience, or allow use of PRC (easy make by yourself, really)
I also have several versions of A Dance With Spies by PRWO (versions 102, 105, 106, 106b), which are set to world of ADWR. I recommend playing it as well.
      Which ones do you want?

  44. Hey,

I don't know if the old vault will be back, but it has been unreliable for a while, so the new site controlled by the community is safer. A lot of content from the old vault has been backed up and some people will develop a system to publish it on the new vault, but they say it's best if the authors create their module pages personally so they can control everything. (I don't know what happens to old download counts, maybe someone will be able to fill them in later.)

Now, another thing. I volunteered to update and tidy up those old romance and adult module lists sometime in the future. For now, they have been copied to the new vault. The lists need to be updated regardless of the old vault working or not.

I need some information about all 3 Gladiatrix modules so I can add them to the lists (the fans can also answer this, no need to bother FR :)).

When were they released? 2011-2013, one each year?

For each module, a short list of romance options - their names, class and alignment (good, neutral, evil) and what's possible to do with that character - start a romance, have sex, both, or something complicated...

Working links to each of the modules will also be needed, but most of the ones currently in the list point to the old vault, so we can see about that later.

Example of a list entry (ADWR2):
    ----
Rated Adult. Only female characters are playable.
This module contains both romance and adult content options.

    Notable characters:
Anden (male ranger, good) - a romantic and sexual relationship.
Pia (female bard, good) - only romanceable if you rescued Pia and started romance with her in Chp. 1 - a romantic and sexual relationship.
Rizzen (male drow fighter/rogue, evil) - a romantic and sexual relationship.
Vico (male fighter/rogue/blackguard, evil) - a romantic and sexual relationship.
    ----
A short description of the romance/encounters' style and atmosphere can also be added.

  46. Help!
First - love the series, and G3 is so far the best of all.

But - I have a problem, the game hangs when loading the Illithid Arena for the battle after battle against the trolls.

I have followed the troubleshooting guide, reinstalled cep, removed overrides and unneeded haks... no joy.

It is a straight up application hang, no logged errors, and only way to get out is to use Task Manager to kill NWN.

Is anyone else having this issue? Or have I invented a new bug?

    ReplyDelete
    Replies
    1. Hi. It's not a bug with the module since no one else has reported that problem. This is the first time I've heard of this one so the problem is local to your system.

Have you tried running the critical rebuild yet? That is what is fixing the random area load hang problems for most people.
      http://nwvault.ign.com/View.php?view=Other.Detail&id=1505

If that doesn't work, let me know and I'll give you the console commands that will set the variables to just skip the next battle. It's a battle against a couple of cyclops and the battle isn't critical to the advancement of the game.

      Delete
    2. I have tried critical rebuild ... no joy.
yes, please provide the skip code if you can.

      Delete
    3. Ok, I will post the code tonight when I get home.

      Delete
    4. Hi. Here is how to use debug mode to skip the cyclop battle:
      - Hit the ` key to the left of the 1 key
      - Type DebugMode 1 (this puts you in debug mode)
      - Hit the ` key again
      - Type dm_setvarint mfescapeplan 1
      - Hit the ` key again
      - Type DebugMode 0 (that's a zero. This takes you out of debug mode)

Now all you need to do is talk to Braxton and you'll get a new conversation about making an escape plan. Let me know if you still have trouble.

      Delete
    5. Oh, and hit enter key after each entry

      Delete
    6. That's weird. I had a similar bug (apparently, some of the GOG versions have this problem), but it got solved after installing the critical rebuild.

      Delete
  47. Ok, this is weird. I just finished the House Massacre for the drow, and I'm back in my quarters for the escape. Buuuut... I can't get out of the room because the door is locked with a 'specific key' which I never got.

    ReplyDelete
    Replies
    1. Do you have a save game prior to entering your drow room? A conversation with yourself is supposed to start when you enter the room. During the conversation Xanderfein is supposed to sneak up on you. By the end of the conversation he rejoins you and you both exit the room. The script to exit the room is on that conversation so somehow the conversation didn't start for you. Let me know if you don't have a prior save and we'll figure out a way around it.

  48. That might be a premature question, but do you have plans for further parts, FallynRayne? Maybe a new module?

I have to admit that I love this series.

    Replies
    1. I don't have any plans to do continue this series. At this point in time it doesn't seem likely that I'll do any more building for NWN. As time goes on, the number of people playing dwindles. Also, there are newer editions of NWN floating around that are crap. I hate seeing people get several hours into one of my modules and the game crashes because their version of NWN is missing elements.

I hope that a new RPG game gets released some day that is user-friendly to build on, but there aren't any that are as good as NWN's toolset. If I do build for NWN in the future it will probably be smaller chapters but I haven't made any real plans yet.

      Delete
    2. In that case you may want to keep an eye on Divinity: Original Sin (http://www.divinityoriginalsin.com/). The projected release date is Nov and it will ship with a toolset. It has a lot of things in common with NWN. :)

  50. Why not Neverwinter 2 ?

    ReplyDelete
    Replies
    1. Well, I've never played it but I've researched it and it doesn't really appeal to me. I don't think it is as well liked as NWN, it's also an aged game, there isn't as much community content, I don't think the toolset is as easy to use and the character models are absolutely hideous in my opinion. It's almost as if they made special effort to make the models look unsexy. They are very linear with very little curve or heroic proportion. So it is unlikely that I'd ever do anything with NWN2.

      Delete
    2. Well it's true and i understand what you mean but keep in mind that:
      1. Neverwinter is even older game
      2. That is true that nwn 2 don't have as much custom content as nwn, but still that content is of good quality and in development.
3.About models if you think about textures of faces then there is community content that gives you better quality nude body's, heads (for example xaltar's heads and oblivion's bodies and heads) and of curse sexy cloths. Besides there is a mod that lets you use 2d portraits that gives you back a little of nwn charm in HD version.
4.It's that toolset is as easy as in nwn but that's because it's have more possibilities than previous version.
      Ps.
Sorry for my English it's not my native language so there may occur some mistakes...

      Delete
    3. I disagree, and here's why.

      1. More modules are still produced and published per month for NWN than NWN 2. Anyone who plays on PW's will also tell you there is practically a 2:1 ratio of NWN players to NWN 2 players.
      2. NWN2 Custom Content can be on the same par, and some of it is. Just as much of it is just trying to make the base game look better.
      3. I am not aware of any animation mods that add adult content to NWN2. Aside from the horrendous bodies there is also the terrible animation, bugs that continue to plague the game even with latest updates, difficult and unresponsive interface, and otherwise heavy system requirements. NWN 2 recommends a 3.0ghz PC, and 1 gb of ram. Dragon's Age origins, produced what... 2-3 years later, recommends less processor power, and only 2 gigs of ram.
      4. The toolset is about the same level of difficulty. However without tilesets it takes a great deal more time to produce areas with NWN2. This isn't a bad thing, but it is different enough that some people have difficulty adapting. Mostly the problem lies in the time factor. It takes so much longer to make content, that less content is made.

Overall NWN, IMHO, is superior to NWN2. Maybe not as pretty in some respects, but far better.

Not all of it is NWN2's fault. 2006 was kind of a bad time for PC games with the next year major releases of dual-cores to the open market. Most games produced at that time, NWN 2 included, didn't have multicore support. Even today I believe your best running NWN2 with your CPU affinity set to a different core. At least NWN1 requires so much less off of a single CPU that having it set to your main CPU by default won't ruin most peoples experience.

    2. Hi. I'm still around. I'm actually playing through my whole series right now. Can you believe I've never played G2 and G3 from beginning to end? Only testing parts here and parts there. So it's actually fun to experience them like a player would.

I haven't done any further module building. I've mainly just been available for troubleshooting if someone runs into problems with my modules. I can't say that I've completely retired, but I'm almost certain I won't be building anything as big in scope as the Gladiatrix series. That took a huge chunk of time out of two years of my life. If I do anything it might be a smaller chapter series where I can release something within two or three months. I'm not sure I would be able to draw much interest in something like that to make it worth while. So far I don't really have anything planned but I never say never.

    1. Thanks! I never say never but I don't have anything planned at the moment. I doubt I'll ever spend the time building something the size of the Gladiatrix series ever again. That was two years of very hard work. If I do anything it would probably be smaller chapters in a series. Something that I could build in a month or two giving the player an hour or two of game time with each installment. The problem with that is I'm not sure I would be able to keep a good following over time. I might get followers for the first couple of chapters, but naturally with each release the number of downloads will start to dwindle. I have to wonder if it's worth the effort in the long run, particularly with an old game where the dwindling player base is moving on to other things.

I doubt I'll ever ask for money. That would be added pressure for me to produce something exceptional. I'd feel bad if someone donated money and ended up not liking it, then complaining that they paid for it. The fact that I was able to create something that entertained so many people is payment enough for me.

      Delete
    2. Understandable! I am quite sad the gladiatrix series is over. Just an idea, but maybe you could make a conclusion to Dance With Rogues the Valine created. I played Gladiatrix before playing DWR and realized how amazing it would be to finish the DWR series with elements that you incorporate into your mods. In any case, thanks again and I'll be checking for updates on your work as time goes on :)

  59. Thank you for this great mod series. Unfortunately I'm stuck at path to new shroud base and I believe that its because Braxton doesn't appear according to the toolset. I have tried everything except re install nwn/cep . I have also read the forums but couldn't find any solution. Is there any easy fix that can spawn Braxton that area?

    1. Sorry for the late reply. I haven't been checking the site on a daily basis. Yes, Braxton should be there in the area before the base. When you got separated from him after the Illithid complex he should have transported to that area. The script to move him must not have fired. The easiest thing to do is to send me your .sav file and I should be able to fix it in debug mode. Then I'll send the .sav file back to you. It might be easiest if you post the file on a site like Dropbox for me to download or you can just try to email it and maybe it will get through the mail filters. My email is fallyn_rayne(at)hotmail.com. Just let me know here if you decide to post or email the .sav file. I rarely check that email account. I'll be happy to help you try to get through the module.

    2. long days and pleasant nights to you. So I have shared a nwn drop box with you (I think) with one quick save and one normal save. I just put in the normal save file in case of some problems.
Thanks again .) no... wait forgot one eye :)

    3. Hi William. I know what the problem is. Braxton is actually there but he is stuck in stealth mode. Since he isn't on your team at the time he is technically invisible to you. You can use debug mode to make him appear. I would send the save file back to you but it does no good because he goes stealthy again when reloading. Here is what to do...

      1. Enter the area before the Shroud camp and head to the eastern side and stand near the opening in the wall. If you look closely you'll see a little puff of dust where he is supposed to be standing.

      2. Hit the ` key to the left of your 1 key

      3. Type the following: DebugMode 1

      4. Hit Enter

5, Hit your period key. This brings up a menu

      6. Expand - Path to New Shroud Base(current area)

      7. Expand - Creatures

      8. Highlight Braxton's name

      9. Hit the campfire icon to the far right of the menu. This will make Braxton rest and after a few seconds he will go out of stealth and reappear.

      10. Hit the ` key

      11. Type the following to get out of Debug mode: DebugMode 0

      12. Hit Enter

      13. Now talk to Braxton and the module will continue like it should

When you finish your next mission and return to the Shroud camp you may notice that Braxton appears to not be there. That's fine. If he talks it will show up as unknown speaker. If you choose him for your war party later in the module just make sure you tell him to not stay in stealth mode. It might be a bad idea to leave your NPC's in permanent stealth so you don't have this problem. I noticed on your save game that Tessa was invisible when she was hanging in the Beholder den. Take her out of permanent stealth also if she joins your party.

I think you should be okay from here on out. If you suspect that the same problem happens later on in the module just follow the same Debug steps above to get the character out of stealth. Hopefully, it won't happen. Let me know if you still have trouble and I'll try to help.

  60. Hopefully someday you will create another great module, FallynRayne.

Btw, there's another adult module. A Dance With Spies, and it's a spin off of A Dance With Rogues.

  61. For some reason I can replay so I have to start a new thread. Oh I forgot all about stealth breaking conversation script. This has happened 3-4 times to me when with Tessa transit to a new area in stealth mode. I don't know if this just happens to me but it might be something to point out.
Thank you very much for the help appreciated really.

  62. I'm confused, last time I played this game it went smoothly all the way to Glatiatrix 3 prequel, which is were I stopped since at the time I asked here if you could start from where you left of there but it turned out you had to start from the beginning again. It was fine though I just did not have the time then, but now I do so I had planned to play all three in a row from the beginning again. Right at the start where I go down into the cellar to clear it for the aunt the game stops on the loading screen and I have no idea why, no error, game not frozen according to task manager, just stopping.

    Any ideas?

    1. To further clarify this is a fresh install, I got the hak/module from the nexus and fetched CEP 2.4 first, then in an attempt to fix this got CEP 2.3 as well and tried overwriting with it. Same result with both 2.4 and 2.3

    2. Well, a few people reported problems with the cellar loading. I believe the cause of that was because there were items in the cellar that their copy of the game didn't have. Usually running the critical rebuild fixes that problem but to save hassles I rebuilt the cellar with very generic items. It's odd that the old cellar was working for you but not the new generic cellar. Unless somehow you still have a copy of the modue with the old cellar and for some reason your current copy of NWN isn't loading it. Your copy of the module should say version 1.7 on the load description screen if you have the latest.

      Here is what I recommend:
      - Try running the critical rebuild. There is a link to it on the vault Gladiatrix page

      - Try downloading the vault copy of the Gladiatrix module. I know it is up to date although the Nexus one should be as well unless the link is pointing to an older version for some reason.
      http://nwvault.ign.com/View.php?view=Modules.Detail&id=6310

      - If worse comes to worse you can just skip the cellar. The only thing you get is the ring of Devyn which is kind of minor, however I don't see why it wouldn't load in the 1.7 version since it is generic. If you are concerned about other areas loading the only other problems that were reported were when first entering Saebra Island, which is early in the module. If you get that far then you shouldn't have further troubles. Hopefully the above suggestions will fix it for you though. Let me know if you have other problems and I'll try to help.

    3. Thanks, the critical rebuild worked. Odd considering that the game told me it was up to date, but I guess the version was broken or something

  63. Hihi, just found these mods and played through them all in one giant binge of NWN over a couple days. Overall, really great work, easily my favorite mod/series of mods I've played, didn't think anything would ever snipe that title from A Dance with Rogues, but so it goes.

Characters were mostly well written, and dialogue options were present to let you react plenty of different ways to them. Combat was well balanced, after G1 at least, and fights could be challenging without being brutal or dependent on the whims of your party AI. The design and mechanics end of it definitely got better as it went, G1 was shaky and I ran into a fair amount of glitches, G2 was mostly smooth and G3 was very solid, I had no glitches the entire run through of G3.

Literally the only complaints I have are that the lesbian scenes didn't get animations like the straight scenes did, and that SPOILERS at the final stretch felt *extremely* out of character from her portrayal from G1. It was jarring and really made me feel awkward about having pursued the romance with her in G1. But that's just one nasty blemish on an otherwise really fun game. I'll definitely play again with a new build and new character mindset, probably pretty soon. Dying to see how things change based on early choices and such!

Will really look forward to anything you might put out in the future~

  64. Is there a Walkthrough of Gladiatrix 2 and 3?

    ReplyDelete
    Replies
    1. I haven't yet, but I hope to have the time to do that some day. I think from a game play perspective that they aren't that difficult to get through. There may be different results depending on decisions made in the game. I don't really have any hidden areas of the modules that the player is likely to miss without a walkthrough. If you talk to all the important people then you should get the full experience.

    1. Hi. I haven't started anything new. I'm not sure if I'm going to do anything else for NWN, but I've recently been considering starting something new. The trick is seeing if I can put something together that isn't as time consuming as the previous series. It would have to be less scripting and utilize the existing elements of the game instead of forcing my own ideas into it. I just can't see spending a year of my life putting out another module on a game that is 12 years old and doesn't have many players left. It would be a balancing act because I would prefer a module to take me a few months, but the trick is being able to keep it entertaining enough for the players and not so burdensome to me. So it's still up in the air whether I start a new project or not for NWN. When and if I do start something new I'll let everyone know on this blog and maybe start a new blog. I just haven't made up my mind yet.

  66. Hey Fallyn! Again, I love all your work. Came here to see what you where up to. If you got nothing going on at the moment you should check out loverslab (forum for people developing adult games, mostly modules for skyrim and fallout though). If youre bored developing games for NWN maybe you should have a look at creating a AIF game, possibly with the RAGS engine or something else.

Thank you for everything youve created, hope youve enjoyed making these games as much as we have enjoyed playing them.

  67. Really enjoyed your modules good fun and good writing. Has there ever been a guide of fights you can lose (but still win) without dieing and has consequences?

    ReplyDelete
    Replies
    1. Hi, are you talking about the arena contests in the first module? You can win or lose any of the arena fights, but the more you win the more reward and experience you get.

      **SPOILERS**
The first battle in the Coliseum against Dante Ryder will most likely be a loss because the plot has the fight rigged against you. It is possible to win the fight but very hard. It isn't something you would want to spend time reloading the game until you win. Just take the loss and continue on because it is really part of the plot.

There is an arena battle later where you fight Princess Guinevere. You will be offered a substantial financial reward under the table if you throw the match and let her win. It's up to the player if you want to throw the fight and collect the extra money or protect your fighting record.

All of the other arena battles in the first module should give you a fair chance to win but may be challenging.

There are a few instances in the three modules where your character or party might get captured. If you find yourself in this predicament then it is part of the plot and those battles aren't meant to be won. You may have to find a different means of escape instead of just fighting your way out.

  69. Hi,
I Just found and downloaded your modules the other week and got to playing them. I really enjoyed them. The story line and the sense of what happens next kept me up later than I should have been just to continue on a little more.

I ran into four problems during the play of all three modules.
    ==Possible SPOILERS==

In G1, while exploring the academy island, the arena there was lacking outside walls.

in G2, after rescuing the boy and going for dinner with his mother, the boy did not follow along/teleport to the house. As such the conversation broke towards the end and the quest didn't complete. I didn't realize the conversation broke and he was supposed to be there or I would've jumped him in. :)

in G3, once in the Scourge base, I encountered a similar problem with characters not following into rooms. During the big conversation that the Shroud is getting close to the base, Kristaly Windsong didn't follow into the main room with the meeting and I had to jump her in. So, not a problem there.

Last, in G3, after the armor ritual, where I'm teleported to my bedroom to rest, I'm kind of stuck. I assume someone is suppose to show up and trigger a conversation, but I don't know how or how. I rested. I tried my door. There's not a 'resting pillow' in the room. And I tried jumping in the main characters from the armor ritual room and striking conversations with each of them, but with no luck.

So, other than being stuck in the room, all the other problems were minor.
The one thing that tripped me up was the quest to find the cat. I didn't pursue it right away and assumed we'd be able to circle back around to do it after finding poor lost Landon. So, that's an oops on my part, but wondering if its worth while to have some kind of note of 'finish any quests before moving on' sort of thing.

Anyhow, great mods. Loved 'em. Hope to finish 'em and then redo the last one to see how it ends from the other direction. :)

  70. This is the most fun and erotic module I have ever encountered in a RPG setting and really explores the limit of an adult-oriented RPG adventure.

I have played through the module multiple times and each time find the details of various character interactions to be seamless and exciting.

If someone out there is to create an official game belonging to the Adult Romance Genre, he/she can learn a bunch from playing through these three modules.

Thank you so much for your time and effort FallynRayne in creating this incredible universe. I hope that you find new ways to channel your talent and perhaps mainstream a new category of RPGs that will entertain the new generations of aging gamers everywhere.

I've just finished the last chapter and I really enjoyed the story and the naughtiness too.
It was mostly excellent, aside of minor bugs.
Played Gladiatrix after ADWR and was pretty happy to play as a fighter and not a rogue.

  76. This is far too late but i will write it anyway. I just finished gladiatrix 1 and i just realized this
was the best role playing experience i ever had.
I played "rpgs" like Dragon age series, kotor I and II,
The elders scrolls, mass effect series, the witcher series but this is different. There is something different
and unique about this style of role playing game ( neverwinter nights I and II and Morrowind)
What passes these days for "role playing games" aka action games with voice-acting is far more shallow, lacks
the depth both in exposition and in detail. A story like gladiatrix will not be told in any of the current generation rpgs (action games) anytime soon and that is sad.. This style of rpgs is dead. The only good thing is that neverwinter night 1 and 2
are still being sold on gog so more people might experience such stories.

You did a good job.Thank you.

    Vella Moonsorrow.
